Frequently-Asked Questions
Are you accepting new clients?
Yes, I welcome new clients at this time. Whether you are thinking of starting for the first time, or have participated in the past, I welcome you to email, call and come in and see how it fits for you now. It is important to find a therapist with whom you feel safe and comfortable, and the best way to ascertain this is in person.
Do you take insurance? Are your services covered by insurance?
At this time my services are not covered by insurance. Your privacy is protected and the duration of counseling is thereby determined by you.
What are your fees?
My standard fee is $70 for each weekly session of 50 minutes. For those who cannot meet this fee on a regular basis, we discuss optional ways, including a reduced fee, to make counseling accessible.
Is what I say in therapy confidential?
Yes. Confidentiality is a key ingredient to a safe and effective therapeutic relationship between client and therapist.
How do I know if I “need” therapy?
There is a misperception that going to therapy means there is something “wrong” with the person who seeks it. My approach is that we can all use a little support now and then, and there are certainly times when an outside perspective can illuminate what is too close and overwhelming to manage ourselves.
Sometimes people want to live more openly as the person they see themselves to be. Sometimes situations bring on anxiety, depression, addiction, abuse, poor communication, or patterns that seems unmanageable. Therapy can offer the support and insight that allow for growth and increased freedom from these constraints to living fully. Counseling can help people at all different times and can be very appropriate when there is a desire to look within, to be reflective, curious, and open to finding new ways of understanding one’s self.
