Shannon Smith, a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice in Portland, Oregon:
With the advent of COVID I have permanently moved my in-person private practice to Telehealth, working with a broad spectrum of clients while meeting over video. Among my areas of expertise are life transitions, anxiety reduction, relationship building, finding meaning and making meaningful change.
My background contains experience working in a multi-disciplinary team in a hospital out-patient environment helping people find coping skills and improving self image and esteem. In various other settings I have held leadership roles with groups doing presentations on healthy boundaries, coping with stress and pain, and gaining strategies to implement change. I have also provided group leadership in retreat settings nurturing spiritual growth. Prior to moving back to Portland in 2004, I was in the San Francisco Bay Area, working in the software and computer publishing industries.
You'll find me interactive and collaborative in my approach. Drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy, existential, transpersonal and narrative therapy, I integrate methodologies and techniques to offer a personalized approach to each client. With compassion and understanding, I hope to build on your strengths and help you attain the perspective and growth that's important to you. Sometimes is about coming home, into body, into self, and resting there, comfortably, once again.
